New regulations require all paid tax return preparers (including
attorneys, CPAs, and enrolled agents) to apply for a Preparer Tax
Identification Number (PTIN) even if they already have one before preparing any
federal tax returns in Tax Year 2011. PTINs that were obtained for the Tax Year
2010 season will expire on December 31, 2011. Some preparers will also soon
need to pass a competency test and take continuing education courses. Promero Consulting complies with the IRS PTIN requirement for the 2012 Tax Season. |
